Retired American History teacher William Mitchell has channeled his rich experiences and deep knowledge into a captivating novel. Raised on a Cass County farm in Silver CreekTownship, Michigan, he draws heavily from his life between 1946 and 1966 to create a story that blends personal memories with action. Set in the rural landscapes of post-war America, the novel is both a love story and a murder mystery. The two main characters, raised on family farms, navigate challenges such as family conflicts, social prejudices, economic hardships, the loss of loved ones, and the ravages of war. Despite these struggles, the story is filled with themes of love, romance ,forgiveness, and even divine miracles. Amid the unfolding drama, a serial killer targets a prominent citizen, leaving the Cass County sheriff in a desperate search for justice. A Potawatomi man plays a pivotal role in the characters’ lives, bringing depth and connection to the story’s rich cultural setting. This heartfelt and suspenseful novel offers a vivid glimpse into life in Cass County during a transformative era, weaving together real-life inspiration with gripping storytelling.
