Sacred Heart of Mary, a small old-fashioned church, and its adjoining cemetery, are surrounded by scenic beauty. In 1838, Chief Leopold Pokagon of the Potowatomi Nation presented the Church with forty acres of land and requested a priest to minister to his people. Around 1850, Irish immigrants settled here. Today, a variety of nationalities constitute the parish family. In summer when our numbers triple, we gather outside for Masses. Our parish hall serves as an educational and fellowship center. We work together for mutual salvation in Christ, growing faith, and praising God for beauty, goodness, and truth.
